Leading Voices is een internationaal 5-daagse muziek festival, in Utrecht, dat zich richt op leiders van koren en koormuziek. Tijdens dit festival zijn workshops, masterclasses, lezingen, discussiegroepen en concerten en er is een side programma voor amateur kunstenaars en liefhebbers om ook aan mee te doen. De hele stad staat in het teken van Leading Voices. Leading Voices, European Days for Vocal and Choral Leaders, offers you 27-31 July 2022 a European platform to meet your peers, learn from colleagues and get inspired by artistic concepts and choirs. It’s a place to co-create, exchange opinions and network, and where you get to learn more about repertoire, conducting techniques, educational methods, choral management and much more. Tijdens deze vijf dagen heb ik overal in de binnenstad opnames gemaakt van de activiteiten om daarmee zoveel mogelijk verschillend materiaal te verzamelen voor deze aftermovie. Hij geeft een impressie van de omvang, de kwaliteit en de passie van alle deelnemers en koormusici. Na de oplevering van de aftermovie heb ik een vervolg opdracht gekregen om de concerten die in Tivoli Vredenburg had opgenomen met meerdere camera’s ook te verwerken. Het concert is een viering van onze communicatiemiddelen: door middel van geluid, muziek, woorden en beweging. Onze stemmen verbinden ons allemaal en worden nog sterker gehoord door gebruik te maken van beweging, lichaamstaal of symbolen. Ofwel door geluid als spraak of zang, ofwel door te schrijven of beelden te creëren, maken we onszelf zichtbaar en kunnen we ons verbinden met anderen. Een verbinding die gedachten en emoties voedt en afstanden in ruimte en tijd overbrugt. Een verbinding die bruggen bouwt tussen generaties. The opening concert of Leading Voices is directed and choireographed by Panda van Proosdij. It stages five different choirs and ensembles from the Netherlands that each have their own unique sound and style. Their performances will be melted together by a musical collective. The concert is a celebration of our means of communication: through sound, music, words, and movement. Our voices connect us all and are being heard even stronger by using movement, body language or symbols. Either by sound like speech or singing, or by writing or creating images we make ourselves visible and we are able to connect to others. A connection that nurtures thoughts and emotions and overcomes distances in space and time. A connection that builds bridges between generations. VoyAGES of HUMANity is designed by Astrid Vang-Pedersen (artistic concept) and Jim Daus Hjernøe (musical concept) as closing concert for Leading Voices 2022. The concert is a celebration of the most powerful instrument – the human voice – is presented in five musical scenes mixing styles, genres, co-creation, improvisation and participation. In this grand finale, all five dimensions of the programme are incorporated: Lab, Learn, Literature, Let’s Meet and Live into one unique and unifying concert experience with the aim to spark hope and inspire vocal leadership for the future.
